The Sumatran Ranger Project exists to protect the Leuser Ecosystem — the last place on Earth where tigers, elephants, rhinos and orangutans still coexist in the wild.

Their team of dedicated rangers patrol the forest to remove snares, monitor endangered wildlife, prevent human-wildlife conflict and work closely with local communities to build a future where people and wildlife can thrive.

As the scale and impact of their work has grown, so too has the need for a more powerful digital presence. Their previous website served its purpose, but it no longer reflected the ambition and success of the project. We redesignsd the site from the ground up — creating a bold, professional, and emotionally compelling platform that does justice to the rangers’ vital frontline work.

The new site uses a vibrant, nature-inspired palette of green, sky blues, and an orangutan-hued orange to evoke the lushness of the Leuser. Big, consistent calls to action and a unified donation message make it easy for visitors to understand how they can help and why their support matters. Photography plays a central role — capturing both the rare and threatened species the rangers protect and the tough, muddy work of patrolling one of the most biodiverse places on the planet.

Educational content now has a home too, with clear, condensed pages explaining topics like human-wildlife conflict, camera trapping, species at risk, and the latest Ranger News. We also introduced a new “Our Rangers” team page to put faces to the mission and share their stories directly. Throughout the site, bold visual stats speak volumes — from how many kilometres the rangers patrol to how many snares they’ve removed and species they monitor.

The result is a grassroots-powered site with global impact — equal parts powerful and practical, with clear pathways for donors and supporters to get involved and stay connected.
