Have yourself a beary merry Christmas

It’s beginning to look a lot like Zoo-mas!

While boys and girls all over WA wait for Santa Claws, the Christmas cheer has come early for Perth Zoo’s animal residents!

The Spotted Hyaena, African Lions, Sun Bears and Sumatran Tiger have all been tucking into holiday-themed enrichment as the big day approaches.

The Sun Bears feasted on leafy wreaths, the Hyaena were busy opening their meaty treats, and the Sumatran Tiger and African Lions pawed through a spread of decorations in search of a Christmas feast!

While it’s holly jolly fun, enrichment like this is an important part of animal’s daily lives. During the festive season, Perth Zoo’s dedicated keepers get extra creative and add a Christmas twist!

Not only is it fun to watch, but enrichment activities ensure all our animals are presented with new challenges and ever-changing habitats every day to encourage their natural instincts and problem-solving skills.

For those looking to do something different on Christmas Day, Perth Zoo is open from 9am – 5pm! There’s free Keeper Talks to enjoy, Christmas-themed enrichment to watch and all of your animal friends to visit.

And that’s not where the festivities end -   Perth Zoo is staying up late for Zoo Year’s Eve. On 31 December, the Zoo will be open until 7:30pm, with extended animal viewing, acoustic music and roving entertainment on the Main Lawn.

Don't forget, Perth Zoo is open every day of the year including Christmas Day, Boxing Day, and News Year’s Day.

We ho-ho-hope you can join us!
